HOW TO: Installing DuckDuckGo Plus on Mozilla Firefox:

1. Go to DuckDuckGo Plus Mozilla add-on page, or simply click on the above download link and click on "Add to Firefox".

2. If Mozilla Firefox asks user permission for installation of addon. Click "Allow" to continue installation, leave it to abort.


3. DuckDuckGo Plus installation box pops-up. Click "Install Now" to continue installing add-on, "Cancel" to abort installation.

4. On successful installation, DuckDuckGo Plus asks user permission to restart the browser. Restart the browser to activate the add-on.

HOW TO: Using DuckDuckGo Plus on Mozilla Firefox:

1. After installation you will notice DuckDuckGo icon added to existing search engine list and separate button at top right side of the browser.

2. Click on the DuckDuckGo icon at top right gives you an option to search with other search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo and others with encryption.

HOW TO: Disable/Remove DuckDuckGo Plus from Mozilla Firefox:

1. Click on the Firefox, located at left upper corner of the web browser and go to "Add-ons".


or press "Alt", Menu bar pops-up, then go to Tools > Add-ons, or you can simply use shortcut key "Ctrl+Shift+A" to access add-on (extension) manger.


2. Now, click on "Disable" to disable the add-on temporarily or click "Remove" to remove the add-on permanently from the browser.

Other features includes Whitelisting Sites and Pause Blocking. You too can help making Ghostery with their opt-in feature called Ghostrank, which sends anonymous info to their servers when you encounter new trackers. Ghostery says, Ghostrank data itself is anonymous, is NEVER used for advertising targeting purposes, and is only shared in aggregated, non-personal, statistical form.

Bluehell Firewall, lightweight Ad-Blocker addon for Mozilla Firefox.


Bluehell Firewall is a lightweight ad-blocker add-on developed by Diego Casorran for Mozilla Firefox. This the same developer who created an add-on to prevent facebook phishing on Firefox. This add-on weighs only 30 Kilo Bytes which makes it non compromising with browser performance but comes with price. Lightweight means no configurable settings. So, you can't depend on this add-on for complete elimination of annoying ads, particularly those non Google ads and private ad pop-ups.

So, Bluehell Firewall an alternative to Adblock Plus? My answer, definitely not.

Today Mozilla foundation has unveiled how it is committed in building web, a better place to surf, safeguarding users privacy and security.

Today, Mozilla has introduced Minion, a security testing platform to be used by developers and security experts with a purpose of minimizing their work. Mozilla claims that Minion takes a different approach to automated web security testing by focusing on correct and actionable results that don't requires security experts to validate, unlike it counter parts which generally generate huge amount of data which is very difficult for analyzing.

Mozilla building UP, Personalisation with Price ?

Mozilla might soon come up with a model which is user custom tailored content and controlled privacy. A proposal called User Personalisation (UP) is being put forward by Mozilla, to provide rich content with personalisation and privacy.

UP is the result of series experiments conducted by Mozilla with help of volunteers and web publishers which was aimed to generate content, based on user's interest with the help of browsing history. But, this type of personalisation comes with price, says Mozilla, it may be come with ads or subscription based model, other innovative models, or it might come in the form of user interaction or engagement.

Enable Do Not Track request in Google Chrome.

To enable "Do No Track" request in Google Chrome, go to chrome's Setting > Show advanced settings... > Privacy. Tick "Send a ‘Do Not Track’ request with your browsing traffic" to enable Do Not Track request.



If you are in Chrome browser, type "chrome://settings/" or click side link.
